After reading the wonderful comments about our race, we knew it was special and we wanted to continue it's growth in such a way that helped us retain a sense of uniqueness while holding firmly onto our link with our city, state and region. When we chose to change the name of the race to Magnolia Marathon and Half; it was to celebrate the deep connection we have to this area and nothing more visibly represents the Magnolia State than the Magnolia tree. After one of our committee members suggested a finisher medal made of Magnolia wood; the idea was quickly embraced and planning began to have a medal that truly represented the personality of our race. So far, the reviews have been totally positive and we look forward to awarding many of these at this year's Magnolia Marathon. Special thanks to David Gerhard Kowall of Enterprise, MS for making this happen. He did an outstanding job and if you'd like to know more about  his projects and see more photos of his work on our medal, please visit his facebook page - The Shop
